Derek always looked forward to getting family information and he was definately a loving and interested part of his FAMILY. He passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011. He'd got up early (as usual) that morning to walk his dog and when he returned he went to his room and layed down. I found him about an hour later. He was stretched out across his bed, hands behind his head in his usual relaxed fashion with his TV on and music playing. I thank God for taking him in such a relaxed and peaceful way. He had not been sick and actually passed his physical with flying colors, just 2 weeks prior to his death. The Medical Examiner's report listed his death as natural causes. He actually had a condition called dilated cardio myopathy, which even his doctors were unaware of. Please pass this information on to the family and tell them that they ALL need to have an echocardiogram. That is the only test that can diagnose the condition.

He was loved by all who came in contact with him. He leaves a huge gap in my heart, but I know that God wanted him more and has other work for him to do His work here was complete.

Know that I appreciate the love that you have all given him. I love you all for always accepting him just as who and what he was, in your GREAT FAMILY!
